Family Day 2007 a great success!

Our Family Day (Saturday, 16th June) was a great success, with the unseasonal weather failing to dampen spirits and curtail the fun. The light rain at midday and the low temperatures did not win out. From morning ’til late afternoon, some 35 families (72 adults and 76 children) had a wonderful time, with the army band performance being the highlight of the day. And of course there was the swimming, the gym activities, the t-shirt painting, bouncy castle and slide, the soccer, the teenage trek, and the army display! Not to forget the barbeque of course!
Many thanks to the Army for facilitating us again this year and helping out on the day.

Family Day June 2007
Posted on March 28th, 2007
This, our third Family Day, promises to be our biggest and best yet! Following on the success of last year’s event, we will be back in the Curragh Camp on Saturday 16th June .
Note: Deadline for bookings - Friday 8th June.
With the help of the army we will have a bouncing castle, slide, football, army exhibition, swimming, barbeque, junior gym obstacle course, arts & crafts and face painting. And musical entertainment!
This year we are introducing Teenage Trek, a chance for teenagers to break away from grown ups and little ones and enjoy some time trekking in the Curragh (max away time one hour, so don’t be too worried about fitness!).

Family Day, 10th June 2006 - Report
Posted on June 12th, 2006
With 39 families in attendance (approx. 80 children and 70 adults), our second ever family day proved a great success. In beautiful sunshine and high temperatures, a great day was had by children and adults alike, with plenty of activities, including swimming, obstacle course, face painting, bouncing castle, t-shirt painting, soccer, military display, and a wonderful barbeque. Many thanks to the Army for being marvellous hosts, and for allowing us the use of their wonderful facilities. Praise must also go to the committee members who put in a huge effort in organising the day and making sure it was a roaring success. And thanks also to everyone who helped out on the day. People were brilliant! Most of all, a big thanks to all the families who attended, and particularly to the children who we know had a wonderful time.
Many thanks to the Army and the Curragh Military Camp for hosting this year’s Activity Day.

Following our inaugural family activity day with the Arklow Sea Scouts in 2004, the Association is holding a family day on the 10th June thanks to the Defence Forces.
For those of you who attended our first Activity Day held in Arklow in June 2004, you will remember the fun that was had by all involved, and how the kids and teenagers went home at the end of an activity and fun-packed day with many fond memories and not a little tired from their exertions!
